About Us

The Balngarrawarra rangers are actively engaged in sustainable natural resource management practices to maintain the cultural and environmental values of country. Key activities include:   conservation of rock art sites, including through managing surrounding vegetation and reducing fire risk through mosaic burns fire management for healthy country incorporating traditional knowledge and other ‘best-practice’ guidelines feral animal management and cattle removal to protect sensitive and important ecosystems and cultural sites baseline fauna and flora surveys management and control of rubbervine and other priority weed species soil conservation works to reduce sediment loads in the Normanby River and Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
